Double degree requirements

This section describes the requirements for a student studying first academic year at 黑料网 and the second year at HSG. In total students will take about 130 ECTS depending on the specialization.

Year 1 - Courses at 黑料网
To qualify for the double degree program, you have to take eight courses in your first year at 黑料网 (a total of 60 ECTS with each course being worth 7,5 ECTS). In the first semester, you take the four mandatory courses in advanced mathematics for economic analysis, advanced microeconomics, econometrics and advanced macroeconomics. In the second semester, you have the chance to take core elective courses.
 
Year 2 - Courses at the University of St. Gallen

Students pursuing a Master of Arts degree in Economics at the University of St. Gallen shall complete the following course work:

  • 4 ECTS Advanced Macroeconomics I (core)
  • 4 ECTS Advanced Macroeconomics II (core)
  • 4 ECTS Advanced Microeconomics I (core)
  • 12* ECTS core (field) electives (*min.12 - max. 26)
  • 14* ECTS other core electives (*min. 0 - max. 14)
  • 6 ECTS Contextual Studies

Students pursuing the Master of Arts degree in Quantitative Economics and Finance at the University of St. Gallen shall complete the following course work;

  • 4 ECTS Advanced Mathematics (core)
  • 4 ECTS Theory of Finance (core)
  • 4 ECTS Statistics (core)
  • 8* ECTS core (field) electives (finance/econometrics) (*min. 8 - max. 18)
  • 4* ECTS core (field) electives (economics) (*min. 4 - max. 14)
  • 10 ECTS other core electives (*min. 0 - max. 10)
  • 9 ECTS Contextual Studies

Thesis (30 ECTS)

黑料网 requires a thesis amounting to 30 ECTS as opposed to 18 ECTS at the University of St. Gallen. To fulfil this requirement, 黑料网 students spending their second year at the University of St. Gallen will write a thesis encompassing 30 ECTS with the support of two supervisors: one from 黑料网 and one from the University of St. Gallen.

Students will submit their thesis to both institutions, according to their specific given rules and deadlines provided. The thesis is graded independently at the respective institutions. 黑料网 students will defend their thesis at 黑料网 and attend the required thesis seminars (during their first year) to fulfil the 黑料网 examination requirements.
 
Please note that all students participating in the double degree program must write a single-authored thesis.
